Homework (KS2)

There are many ways to support your child during their time at Waltham Holy Cross Primary School.
These include ensuring your child:

  • arrives at school in plenty of time
  • is wearing correct school uniform
  • has their PE kit in school
  • has their reading book and reading diary in their homework folder.
  • comes to school with a positive learning attitude

Your child will receive homework which will be recorded in their personal homework book.

The expectations for homework in KS2 are:

  • Reading x5 (10 mins) per week
  • Spellings practice x5 per week
  • Times tables practice x5 per week also.

Please use the green homework book provided to ensure your child has plenty of opportunities to practise and consolidate their learning.

We will test spellings and times tables (in a Mega test) every Friday. The results will be clear to see in the homework book so make sure you track your child's progress as will the teachers.

You can support your child by:

  • listening to your child read, asking questions to ensure understanding/infer meaning and signing the reading diary. This will be recorded by the class teacher and shared at consultation evenings.
  • helping them learn their times tables and related division facts
  • carrying out spelling tests to ensure tricky words are spelled correctly.

All of the above are important ways to support your child. Please also encourage your children to join an extra-curricular club. We have lots of after school clubs on offer that cater for a range of interests run by our fantastic team of teachers.
